We regret to announce that, while running in the Sprint Race at Bicton College on the first day of the Jan Kjellstrom Orienteering Festival on Good Friday 2nd April 2010, Dave Stubbs of Berkshire Orienteers collapsed and died. Dave had orienteered for many years and was both an active competitor, organiser and event controller. I'm sure all orienteers will wish to join in sending condolences to his wife Katy, herself the controller of the day’s racing, and thank Dave for his tremendous contribution to British Orienteering.

JK Sprint – Day 1
To cater for the highest ever entry on a JK Sprint, an additional course has been planned. A number of course / class allocations have been changed from those given in the printed programme. All competitors should therefore confirm the course that they are running. Details of the class/course allocation are in the Final Details and will be displayed at Assembly and at the Start.
Elite competitors who arrive too late for their allocated start time will have two choices. They can start on the first available free minute (but with their allocated start time; no start time changes will be permitted). They should be aware that after about 1245, all start slots have been allocated. Otherwise they can request a transfer to course 10 (Open) and run on that with a start time they can achieve (noting that after 1430 there will be few free start slots available on Course 10). To do this, competitors should go to Enquiries.
BOF/IOF members can now enter course 10 on the day and be competitive. The first, second and third placed competitive runners will receive a memento.

For Day 1 there are a number of local attractions worth visiting - see the Things to Do page.
