Cookworthy Forest, 12 miles WNW of Okehampton, is mainly Forestry Commission coniferous plantation of different ages and runnability, with some patches of older deciduous woodland. Although without intricate contours, the varied nature of the terrain with a complicated network of earth banks – a legacy of past farming on the land – and an irregular pattern of vegetation changes will provide a challenge to error-free orienteering.
