The JK 2010 will be held over four days as follows:

The Sprint event will be held at Bicton College.
The imposing Georgian Bicton House is a typical British country mansion and its origins go back to the 6th century; a great feature of the grounds is the avenue of Chilean Pines (Monkey Puzzle tree) planted in 1837. The Bicton College of Agriculture was formed in 1945; it has grown over the years and offers a wide range of land-based courses in agriculture and rural pursuits. The buildings and grounds will offer a challenging competition for the Sprint Competition.

The Elite Middle Races and Classic Long Races for other classes will be held in Cookworthy Forest.
Cookworthy Forest, 12 miles WNW of Okehampton, is mainly Forestry Commission coniferous plantation of different ages and runnability, with some patches of older deciduous woodland. Although without intricate contours, the varied nature of the terrain with a complicated network of earth banks – a legacy of past farming on the land – and an irregular pattern of vegetation changes will provide a challenge to error-free orienteering.

The Classic Races for the Elite and other classes will be held at Braunton Burrows.
Braunton Burrows is one of the largest sand dune systems in Britain and a fine example of detailed sand dune terrain. It has a number of roughly parallel ridges up to 30m in height and separated by slacks, backed by a broad plain with lower detailed dune features. It will present a notable challenge to competitors for the World Ranking Event.

The Relay will be held on Braunton Burrows. The Assembly Field will be at the same location as Day 3.
This challenging area will provide a good level of competition and excellent atmosphere that everyone expects of a British relay event. |
